About 6 weeks ago i applied for a job with a company who looks after the photography side of the Carsales.com.au Network and well you are now looking at one of three NSW Photographers, i had my first days training yesterday and whilst it may not be creative it looks to be alot of fun, to begin with I will be working 2 to 3 days a week travelling to various dealers around sydney taking photos of their new used vehicles for sale for carsales and dealer websites, so thats that.

Sydney AFL started early last month and has been flat out since, as i mentioned in a previous blog I am now the official photographer contracted by AFL NSW/ACT to cover regular fixtures and any of their social events during the calendar year, much fun again as I truely love shooting the sport.

What else, ohh as we speak I am finalising my packing and on my way to Queensland to visit my old mate Tony and to shoot the Rally of Queensland, its been 2 months since the last one and I am very much looking forward to it, make sure you check out a Fast4s issue pretty soon with the ARC Canberra Rally coverage.

Over the past weekend I also shot Round 2 of the Mini Racing Series, if you havent had the pleasure of watching these little race built beasts attach a circuit you are missing out, I have to admit of all the motorsport I do shoot the mini’s would be up there.

I have also been shooting the ANZ Netball Championship for a few newspapers, i have to admit netball is one hell of a game, these girls are so fit its amazing what they can do out on the court for such a long period.

A few weeks ago I shot the 3rd EVO/STI battle, I have to admit this year really seemed to lack something, the last few years have always had wet weather, this year however the sun played havoc, all the same, fast cars, evos, sti’s all on track at eastern creek made for some exciting images.

One last thing, back in April during Easter i was fortunate enough to shoot Easternats for my good mate jason Kirk at Motorsportfotos.com, i stayed with his fiance Jades family who where most gracious and made the 4 long days just a tad easier to deal with .

Enough chatter I will post some images when I get back from Queensland and as you can see i have had a busy month.

So did anyone else notice the network jam at midnight on mobile phone networks? i sent a few sms messages just before and it took almost 30min for some to go through some didnt even make it, i guess quite a few people decided to send messages at the same time, i wonder why.

So 2009 what lies ahead? resolution, really resolution? cmon we all know its a silly idea, if you want something to happen or change to occur dont just wait till NYD to do it, do it now NOW!!!!.

i enjoyed the motorsport year so there you have it, next year fingers crossed will be bigger and better and i can get to more rounds of the ARC and V8 Supercars including KKR09 and a few other surprises, this year i got to travel to quite a few places, Melbourne a few times, Perth, Canberra, all over NSW and Victoria, so a huge amount of planning has gone in to what i will be doing in 09 aleady.

This was at Oran Park during the Dutton NSW event, the clouds and clean background really do it for me here

Bathurst 1000, an early morning portrait of will davidson of jim beam racing before the big race began, i did get one of craig lowndes but the damn camera operator screwed something up and it was oof, but i still like this one, i love the golden early morning light on his face and the look in to the distance (which i did ask him to do )

I just wantd a shot of the holden sign with a holden going through it, everyone does the sme shot with the car in the middle just under it so i tried something a little different

the next two ar two of my favourites from Phillip Island V8Supercars round this year, i just wanted clean backgrounds and i think i achieved that, the cars arent doing much but i really like them.

1/30s pans with wide angle lenses arent my favourite things but i like this, why? i just do

Rally of Canberra, wow i just loved this event and off-road rallying, the images you can make are endless ts just alot more stessfull but that sometimes is good, this one was of herridge, it was the only jump on any of the stages, not everyone was game but most of the APRC guys did it, i think he did ok

I just like the open space of this, the dirt, the cactus, and its in canberra of all places

Probably my favourite or one of during the year, was the Fujitsu round at Wakefield Park, a car had gone off in the background creating the dust storm in the background, i thought it made for a really good image, admittedly i should crop out the car to the right but alas its there now

So its the end of 2008, good year? somewhat, photography wise its been an education, its been rewarding, its been tough, its been every adjective under the sun (what? i remembered some english from school? Mrs Burnham you would be proud), all in all though it has been good and i am looking forward to 2009.

2009 hey? i remember when it was 2000 and i was hitting Mobile Home with my best friend Marty ohh the memories, ten years on and marty is still partying like its 1999, yeah cliche i know but it is right, and me? i guess i have found something to love and that i enjoy, what to do, as long as we are having fun thats all that i care about.

anyway enough of my first post already, enjoy the rest of 2008 and may 2009 be as boring as 2008
